Add an athlete manually (at the desk, on event day)

Updated: May 2026

Not every registration goes through the online flow. An athlete showing up at the desk, a team added on event day, a one-off case to sort out: from the Athletes tab in your space, you create a full registration by hand. It is the bridge between online sign-ups and the floor.

When to use it

Manual creation covers the cases the online flow cannot handle on its own:

  • An athlete or team signing up on site, at the desk, on event day.
  • A registration settled off-platform that you want to show in your list.
  • A one-off case to add quickly without going back through online payment.

The team delegate

You start by entering the email of the team delegate (the main contact). Throwdown checks live whether the account exists:

  • The account exists: the registration is linked to that delegate.
  • The account does not exist: Throwdown creates it automatically and sends a login email to the athlete. They can find their registration in the app without doing anything again.

Filling in the team and the division

You then fill in each athlete on the team: identity, goodies and sizes, club or box. Then you pick the division. The team format (solo, duo, team, mixed) follows the chosen division, just like in the online flow.

If you split your competition into several divisions, take a look at creating your first competition to set them up beforehand.

Bib and managing afterwards

You can assign a bib to the registration when you create it or later. From each athlete's panel, you stay in control:

  • Edit identity, goodies or club.
  • Move the registration to another division.
  • Delete the registration (a warning reminds you about the refund case).

A manual registration shows up in the same list as online sign-ups, with the live count and Excel export. Your whole roster stays in one place for what comes next: check-in, wave generation and the leaderboard.
