Hybrid racing
Without net time the standings get argued over
It is the one line you regret saving money on. Here is why.
On a hybrid race teams start in waves staggered every ten minutes. A single clock started with the first wave would give everybody a false result. Net time solves it, each team is timed from its own crossing of the line to its finish. It is the only defensible measurement on this format, and it is what separates a real race from a group training session.
What to keep in mind
No manual recording
Nobody at the line with a stopwatch and a clipboard. The crossing records itself.
Live leaderboard
On the gym screen, on the TV and on the athletes phones, while the waves keep rolling.
One transponder per team
In pairs both stay together, so one is enough. The timing cost is halved.
Results that stay
The leaderboard page stays online and gets found in Google by your race name, years later.

Yes. The sensor sits on the line, indoors or outdoors, and the transponder is a velcro unit worn at the ankle.

Yes. The active transponders are waterproof and worn at the ankle on a neoprene strap. They are read as athletes leave the water, and an optional sensor at the pool exit can count every swim.
