Hybrid racing

Putting on your first simulation, from scratch

Dozens of gyms run their own hybrid race to prepare their athletes. Here is everything to plan, in order.

A hybrid race simulation reproduces the format of the big events in your own gym, eight work stations separated by running, timed on net time. The upside is double. Your athletes discover the format in real conditions before paying for an official entry, and your box fills a quiet day with an event that sells. Your standards, your divisions, your prices, with no outside approval. The format inspired by HYROX® events belongs to its owners, you are putting on your own race in the same spirit.

What to keep in mind

Count eight weeks

Four to settle the format and the equipment, four to sell. Below that, ticketing has no time to fill.

Pairs fill better

Almost every simulation runs in pairs. It is less intimidating, it splits the effort and it brings two people per entry.

One wave every ten minutes

With eighty minutes of racing on average, that puts around eight waves on course at once. That number drives everything else.

Timing makes the difference

Without net time a wave start is unfair and the standings get argued over. With it, the race becomes credible and your athletes come back.

The leaderboard sells next year

The results page stays online and gets shared. It is your best argument to fill the following edition.

You are putting on your own race, not an official stage of a circuit. Stay clear about that in your communication, never imply an affiliation, and use an event name that belongs to you.

Around sixty pairs and the day funds itself comfortably. Plenty of first editions run at thirty or forty pairs and already cover costs.

The tight constraint is not the gym, it is the running course. A four hundred metre outdoor loop is enough, or a marked out and back on a car park.

Yes, one day can offer a hybrid race in the morning and WODs in the afternoon, with separate divisions and a combined leaderboard if you want.
