Connect Stripe Connect

Updated: May 2026

Before you sell a single spot, you need to connect Stripe Connect Express. That's what lets you collect registrations. Funds land directly in your bank account through Stripe: Throwdown never holds your money. Here's how it works.

Start the Stripe onboarding

From your organizer space, follow the Stripe connection button. You land on a Stripe-hosted flow (Express onboarding), fully handled by them. You fill in the requested information, then return to Throwdown once you're done.

Identity verification (KYC)

Stripe runs a regulatory check before it can pay you out. You provide:

  • your identity details (with supporting document);
  • your IBAN, to receive your payouts;
  • your organization details (box, club or company) if you collect on behalf of an entity.

Validation can be instant, or take a little longer if Stripe asks for more. You're notified as soon as your account is validated.

No validation, no sales

As long as your Stripe account isn't validated, you can neither publish your competition nor collect registrations. It's a safeguard: we don't let you sell a spot until the money can actually reach your account. As soon as Stripe validates, the lock lifts and you can publish.

The live breakdown

When you set the price of a division, Throwdown shows the breakdown in real time, as you type the amount:

  • the price paid by the athlete;
  • the Throwdown service fee;
  • the estimated Stripe fees;
  • your net payout.

So you know exactly what you take home before you even publish. For the full breakdown of plans and fees, see the pricing page.

Payment methods and security

Your athletes pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Bancontact, right inside the registration flow. More options offered, fewer drop-offs at checkout.

On security, all processing runs through Stripe, one of the world's payment standards. Throwdown never sees your athletes' card details and never stores your funds. Money moves from the athlete to your bank account through Stripe, that's it.
